  • Participants are taught skills to safely enjoy the wilderness. These skills are taught in ten lectures and are practiced in overnight outings: Car Camp, Land Navigation, Mountain and/or Desert Backpack, and Snow Camp.

    Our goal is to share our knowledge and skills in the safe enjoyment of wilderness areas and to convey a sense of responsibility for maintaining the purity and integrity of the wilderness environment.

    Participants must supply their own equipment which may be rented from many sporting goods stores. Information about equipment will be covered in the course lectures.

    Persons 18 years of age and older are eligible to take this course.

    THE DEADLINE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION HAS PASSED.
    If you would still like to register after this date, show up to the first night of class, Tuesday January 22. We can accommodate the first 300 students, on a first come, first served basis. We can accept registrations until January 29.
